Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer
The Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer works on all product stages from research and development to design and manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning. The goal is to design and fabricate mechanical components of innovation and excellence.
Essential Functions
- Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new products
- Update existing designs to meet customer specifications
- Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs
- Generate working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstration
- Perform engineering calculations to support design work
- Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors
- Create detailed documentation to track project development and design process
Experiences and Qualifications:
Required:
- Knowledge of general drafting standards and general working experience with SolidWorks.
- Design and detail parts that meet the specifications of the customer.
- Good mechanical aptitude, specify dimensions, materials, and processes.
- Create and store drawings electronically.
- Use of SolidWorks & or Auto CAD
- Understanding of document control practices
Preferred:
- 2-10 years of related Mechanical Engineering
- Design parts for machines, tooling fixtures, experience with weldments and manufacturing systems (automation experience a plus).
- Knowledge of SolidWorks required (PTC Creo is a plus).
- Familiar with machine shop equipment, processes, and operations.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position in Columbus, NE. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evenings and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Minimal to no travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Associates Degree will be considered)
- 2-10 years of related experience and/or training
- Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge
- Preferred, but not required, experience in Sage estimating software
Salary: 60K – 85K DOE
